Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming private school in Essex. This role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to students’ academic progress, wellbeing, and confidence while working closely with teachers and other staff members.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support, deliver small-group interventions, and offer one-to-one guidance to students who may need extra help accessing the curriculum. You will also assist with behaviour management, preparation of resources, and creating a positive learning environment where every student can succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support to teachers and students across a range of subjects

  • Deliver small-group or one-to-one learning sessions as directed

  • Assist in behaviour management and promote a positive learning environment

  • Support students with additional needs to access the curriculum

  • Help prepare learning resources and classroom materials

  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff

  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and wider school life

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people in an educational setting (desirable)

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting students

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
