Do you believe food education is about more than recipes? A School in Essex is looking for a skilled and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join their team from September 2025.
In this full-time, permanent role, you’ll deliver lessons that equip students with essential life skills in nutrition, food safety, and cookery. Teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, you’ll be part of a welcoming Design Technology department that supports creativity, wellbeing, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and teach Food Technology lessons at KS3 and KS4

Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging kitchen-classroom environment

Foster healthy attitudes towards food, nutrition, and lifestyle

Track progress, provide feedback, and support learners’ practical skills

Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school events

Work collaboratively within the DT department and school community
Qualifications and Experience
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
-
Experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary school
-
Strong subject knowledge in nutrition, food prep, and safety

Excellent communication and classroom organisation

ECTs welcome – full mentoring and induction support provided

A genuine interest in supporting student wellbeing and skill-building
