Job Description

Are you a compassionate and experienced SEMH PE Teacher ready to make a life-changing impact on students with social, emotional, and mental health needs? A school, based in Essex, is offering a full-time, permanent opportunity for an educator with the empathy, energy, and resilience to thrive in a specialist setting.

The team is committed to delivering a curriculum that supports both academic achievement and emotional growth. You will play a key role in transforming students’ experiences through consistency, creativity, and relational teaching.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver well-structured and engaging lessons for students with SEMH needs

  • Use trauma-informed and restorative practices to manage behaviour

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and professionals

  • Support pupils in meeting EHCP targets and achieving personal growth

  • Foster a classroom environment that is safe, supportive, and inclusive

  • Monitor and evaluate individual progress, adapting teaching as needed

  • Contribute to whole-school events, activities, and enrichment


Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (essential)

  • Previous experience in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings (preferred)

  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills

  • A trauma-informed, person-centred approach to teaching

  • Resilience, patience, and a commitment to inclusive education

  • Ability to build trust and motivate students with complex needs
