A School in Colchester is seeking a Graduate Tutor to join their specialist team from September. This full-time, permanent role offers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Working closely with qualified teachers and therapists, you'll play a vital part in delivering tailored learning and mentoring support to small groups or individuals who benefit from structure, patience, and care.
Whether you're exploring teaching, psychology, counselling or youth work — this role provides a strong foundation and valuable CPD in a specialist environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with SEMH needs through targeted 1:1 and small group sessions
- Assist with behaviour management, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Adapt learning tasks under teacher guidance to meet individual needs
- Help create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Track pupil progress and contribute to pastoral and academic records
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals
Qualifications and Experience
- Passion for education and supporting young people
- Degree-level qualification (any subject welcome)
- Interest in SEMH, psychology, or youth support
- Calm, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and contribute positively to the team
