Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Site Assistant to join the facilities team at a well-established school in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and a commitment to ensuring the school site is safe, clean, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

As a Site Assistant, you will carry out a range of duties including security, maintenance, minor repairs, and site management. You will support the day-to-day running of the school premises and contribute to creating a positive and safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the school premises

  • Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and site checks

  • Ensure the school site is clean, safe, and secure at all times

  • Oversee site security, including locking and unlocking the premises

  • Assist with setting up for school events and activities

  • Monitor and manage site health and safety procedures

  • Liaise with contractors and external providers when necessary

  • Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a site, caretaker, or facilities role (desirable)

  • Practical skills in general maintenance and repairs

  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures

  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
