Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate SENCO to join a supportive school in Essex. This is a rewarding opportunity to shape and lead the school’s SEND provision, ensuring pupils with additional needs receive the best possible support to achieve their full potential.

As SENCO, you will work closely with staff, families, and external professionals to identify needs, implement strategies, and monitor progress. You will play a key role in developing inclusive teaching practices, supporting teachers, and ensuring statutory requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage SEND provision across the school

  • Oversee identification, assessment, and support for pupils with SEND

  • Coordinate and implement EHCPs and Individual Education Plans

  • Provide guidance, training, and support for teaching staff

  • Work closely with families and external professionals to support pupil progress

  • Monitor and track outcomes for pupils with additional needs

  • Ensure compliance with statutory SEND requirements and school policies

  • Promote inclusion and positive outcomes for all learners

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • National SENCO Award (or willingness to complete)

  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally in a primary school setting

  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practice

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and support colleagues

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
